Help Brings Hope

Hope For My City ministries is leading a mission opportunity helping the residents of East Baton Rouge clean out from their recent flooding. We will be working with Samaritan’s Purse relief efforts. The trip has been scheduled to accommodate 12 volunteers.

Why:

Recent flooding in East Baton Rouge Parish left 70,000 homes flooded, that’s around 35% of all houses in EBR. About 12,000 businesses were affected, impacting 136,000 workers. Do you want to help?

What:

Doing “Mudouts” and clean up for East Baton Rouge residents after August flooding.

When:

Sept 16-18. We will leave Tuscaloosa at 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning, work on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. We will return on Sunday.

What to expect:

This is physical work. We may be tearing out sheet rock, removing furniture, pulling nails and flooring. We are there to serve in whatever capacity SP directs us. We need to bring gloves. Samaritan’s Purse will provide tools. Bring a twin air mattress or cot to sleep on. We will be sleeping in a church facility (bring sleeping bag or sheets and blanket). Shower trailers are on site. SP will provide all meals and some snacks while we are there.

Cost:

Money for meals while traveling there and back (approx. $20). $10 to help with gas expense. Lodging and food will be covered by SP.
